Gaming Adventure: VIII

After putting down Metro Exodus last week, I went through a decent backlog of games. I hadn’t really picked up anything on the Nintendo Switch after Tetris 99. So ultimately, everything that I’ve been playing recently has been on either the PlayStation 4, or the Xbox One. There’s still a few games that I want to get to on the Nintendo Switch, but as of this moment it’s been kind of an Xbox week. There is one thing that I would like to talk about briefly from the Nintendo front, however, and that is the retirement of Reggie Fils-Aime. For those who do not know, Reggie Fils-Aime is the President of Nintendo of America. It’s weird to think about this guy retiring. It feels like he’s been the man for Nintendo since I was a teenager. We’ll see what the future holds. And maybe when he does officially retire, we’ll still hear from him. Who knows. But anyways, onto gaming.

Crackdown 3

So there’s been a few games that I’ve played. I tried Game Pass on the Xbox One, so I got a lot talk about here. First things first, Crackdown 3. Yes, I played it. It’s not great. I’m honestly grateful that it was added to Game Pass because if I had bought this game for $59.99 I would have been incredibly upset. The entire game feels like you’re running endless side missions. It’s ridiculous. I was actually looking forward to this game too. It’s average at best. This has got to be one of the most disappointing games that I’ve ever played. I don’t recommend anyone buy it. It’s available on Game Pass – which you can get for like $1 with some deal that’s going on – if you really want to play it. It only took me around 6 hours to complete the game. I had no desire to do the rest of the side content in the game. Once I completed the story mode, I just uninstalled it. Boring disappointment, that’s all I can say.

Ashen

Moving along, I went and played Ashen. This is another game that is available on Game Pass. It’s honestly pretty darn good. You can definitely see the Dark Souls inspiration in the gameplay. I don’t think that it’s as difficult as something like Dark Souls, but, it has a definite influence. There are a lot of unique things to the game, for example, there is a town that will upgrade as you do quests for the folk inhabiting it. Doing their quests will build up several locations within the town. It’s a neat little feature, and one that I actually liked from an aesthetic point of view. Like I said, Ashen is available through Game Pass as we speak. It’s definitely worth a try.

We Happy Few

Lastly, I finally got around to playing We Happy Few. I don’t really know what to say here. I want to like We Happy Few. I find the world to be interesting. There is something about the game that attracts me, but unfortunately I just find the gameplay to be relatively boring. It’s not enough to hold my attention. The survival mechanics feel completely unnecessary. The game itself would have been fine just being a Bioshock knock off or something.

Anyways, that’s all for now. I’ll be getting back into the busy work this week, but I’ll still try to get back with something. Next month The Division 2 releases, so, I’ll probably be trying out that one. I played the first Division. It was a buggy mess, but the game was fun to play with friends. I had been looking forward to that one for a while, though I don’t think that I was anticipating it with a lot of hype. I’m still going to play it anyways. So we’ll see how it is then. Catch you all later.
