Gaming Adventure Update: III

Hello and welcome to another edition of my gaming adventures. There wasn’t really any noticeable news during the week that I wanted to get to, but, I still got some games to talk about. With the Resident Evil 2 Remake on the way, I have to admit that I’m more than a little excited about this one. It’s been a long time since I feel that I’ve been excited about a Resident Evil game in general. Admittedly, I had found Resident Evil 7 to be a forgettable game. I had a conversation with a few friends about it recently, and I was surprised that no one remembered really anything about the game outside of the Baker family. It wasn’t that it was bad or anything, it just didn’t leave its mark. But anyways, let’s get to things.

Final Fantasy XIV

So coming into the week, I’ve been spending a good amount of time on Final Fantasy XIV. With the recent release of Blue Mage, I’ve gone back to the game and have been mostly enjoying the new job. My biggest annoyance is learning some of the level 50 spells. It can be incredibly boring to grind out content that was released over 5 years ago. I’ve at least enjoyed the Masked Carnival content. It’s been alright. Nothing spectacular, but, it’s at least something to do. The main thought I have with Blue Mage is its future in Final Fantasy XIV. It’s a limited class, so it can’t access any of the newer content in the game. I wondered if this is because it’s going to be an issue in terms of balancing. It’s a relatively fun class, but if it can’t participate in any kind of significant content then I guess I just wonder what exactly the point of even having it is. I guess time will tell here. But that’s really it for the MMO front.

Onimusha: Warlords Remastered

Outside of that, I obviously played Onimusha: Warlords last week. I’ve heard mixed things from other people, but I personally enjoyed playing the game again. You have to remember that Onimusha: Warlords is almost 20 years old. The only real issue I had was strange lighting issues. I also think that it would have also been better suited for Capcom to remaster Genma Onimusha instead of Warlords. The extra content would have been nice. I had talked to a few people who want to grab Warlords, but are indifferent about paying $20 for a game that is so old. But, I really don’t think the same. I enjoyed it, I just wish it was Genma Onimusha.

Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition

Moving along, I also played Tales of Vesperia. This is probably the next thing that I’m going to write about. Admittedly, my opinion on the game has slightly changed. It feels like the game slows down towards the end. It’s still a fun RPG, but it has its dull moments where you just feel like things may have dragged on for far too long. It’s a pacing issue. You feel like the game should have ended at one point, but it goes on for another 10 hours. But like I said, I’ll get back to this one.

So, that’s really it for now. I started up playing Civilization VI on the Nintendo Switch again, but there isn’t really much left for me to say about that one that I haven’t already said in the past. The Resident Evil 2 remake comes out at the end of the week, so I’m hoping to hit that one and put in a nice session. I don’t expect the game to be overly long, but I’m still hoping to be able to put in a few playthroughs before the weekend ends. Anyways, that’s it for now. Things might get a little busy here again, but I will definitely get back with something. Most likely Vesperia. But yeah, until next time.
