Last week, the 2018 Game Awards happened. Now, I wasn’t able to catch all of it, but, I did at least get to see a few of the new game trailers, and was able to see the overall Game of the Year. I don’t really think that I can argue against God of War 2018 getting Game of the Year, it’s a really fantastic game – and probably the best PlayStation 4 exclusive that I’ve ever played. But, I guess it was sort of a twist, considering that Red Dead Redemption 2 is really on another level in terms of the technical aspects. I honestly figured that Red Dead Redemption 2 was definitely going to get it, just because the game really is a masterpiece. God of War 2018 would’ve been my easy 2nd choice though. No doubt about it. I loved both games, but, I just think that Red Dead Redemption 2 is just something incredibly special.
Now, outside of that, I also saw the trailer for the new Obsidian game, The Outer Worlds. I honestly think that this was the most exciting thing I saw during the Game Awards. I’m really happy for Obsidian, I think they’re an underappreciated company. And I really can’t wait to see how things go for them.
So with all of that out of the way, I guess I’ll mention what I’ve been playing. Well, not really too much. I did try to do a few of the Valkyries in God of War, but, I just kind of gave up after fighting three of them. They didn’t seem too bad, in terms of difficulty. But, it was just kind of starting to wear me down a little bit, the games story was more than enough for me.
After I finished God of War up, I went and started up South Park: The Fractured But Whole on the Nintendo Switch. Now, I’ve played this game a few times on the PlayStation 4, but I think it’s still been just as fun as the first time I went through it. There are some noticeable flaws in the game, at least when comparing it to the PlayStation 4 version. I noticed slowdowns in some areas, and I noticed some of the load times were pretty lengthy. I also picked up the season pass for the game as well, since I didn’t initially play any of them on the PlayStation 4 version. I’ll probably get around to those later in the week.
So until then, I’ll probably go back to playing South Park: The Fractured But Whole. I do also want to spend some more time with Civilization VI at some point as well, I don’t really know what it is, but I just find that game to be relatively addictive. It’s been my go to game, when I’m not doing much else. I do have a few other games that I’ll probably come to at some point, whether it be before or after Christmas, we’ll have to see. I’m going to at least take the time to write about South Park for now. I think this one is really worth it, it’s a good game for the Switch, but, it has issues so I’ll get to them at some point during the week. Anyways, I’m off for now. Expect more later in the week.
